New Delhi: Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said that India is going to be five trillion dollar economy with sustainable and optimal utilization of all the energy sources. Speaking at the In-depth Review of India's Energy Policies at NITI Aayog in New Delhi today, he said, recent decisions of government to develop the North East Gas Grid project will benefit the North Eastern states. He said, India is moving ahead to become a gas based economy.
Coal Minister, Pralhad Joshi said that government is liberalizing the coal mining sector to make it more industry friendly. Power Minister, RK Singh said that before 2014, India was energy deficient but now India is in a position of surplus. He said, India is committed to achieve the production target of 175 giga watt renewable energy by the year 2022.
Executive Director of International Energy Agency, Dr. Fatih Barol said that India has made outstanding progress in the energy sector by sustainable use of it. He said, implementation of schemes like Ujjwala and Ujala have reduced the consumption of bio-fuels and improved the energy efficiency in the country. During the event, International Energy Agency 2020 India policy review report was released by the dignitaries.
